Types of refractory mortar

Refractory Mortar is composed of refractory aggregate material, binding agent and admixture, and is the jointing material for shaped products. According to the delivery state, it is available in dry form and wet form. Construction by adding modulating liquid (water or other liquids) modulation to the specified consistency, with a spatula or special machinery (such as pressure grouting machinery) for masonry or grouting.

Refractory mortar is divided into two categories: heavy and light. According to the bonding agent is divided into phosphate mortar, water glass mortar and organic bonding mud, etc. According to the material is divided into clay, high alumina, magnesium and silica, carbon mud, etc.

1、Aluminosilicate refractory mortar

Aluminosilicate refractory mortar is divided into two kinds of clay mud and high alumina mud. Aluminosilicate mud uses clay clinker, high alumina clinker as the base material, with soft clay or chemical bonding agent. It is mainly used for the masonry of clay brick and high alumina brick in blast furnace, hot blast furnace, coke oven, even heat furnace, heating furnace, boiler, etc.

According to the standard GB/T14982-1994, the clay refractory mortar is divided into two categories with 5 grades according to Al2O3 and bond strength. Ordinary clay refractory mortar 4 grades (NN-30, NN-38, NN-42, NN-45A), phosphate bonded clay refractory mortar 1 grade (NN-45B). The physical and chemical index requirements of the clay refractory slurry are shown in the table.

According to the standard GB/T2994-1994, high alumina refractory mortar is divided into two categories with 8 grades according to Al2O3 and bond strength. There are three grades of ordinary high alumina refractory mortar (LN-55A, LN-65A, LN-75A), and five grades of phosphate bonded high alumina refractory mortar (LN-55B, LN-65B, LN-75B, LN-85B, GN-85B).

It is mainly used for masonry of clay bricks and high alumina bricks in the bottom of blast furnaces and furnace cylinders, etc. It is made of aluminosilicate refractory mud with non-water-based solvent. According to the classification of YB/T141-998, it is divided into non-aqueous clay refractory mud and non-aqueous high alumina refractory mortar.

2、Silica refractory mortar

Silica refractory mortar is composed of silica material, soft clay chemical bonding agent and admixture. Silica materials have silica brick powder and silica powder, silica refractory mud is mainly used for coke ovens and glass furnaces and so on and with silica brick masonry hot chimney equipment. According to the standard YB/T384-1991 classification requirements, silica refractory mud (heavy) according to the masonry of the furnace and the physical and chemical properties of the mud is divided into 3 categories of 5 grades. Silica refractory mortar physical and chemical index requirements are shown in the table.

3、Magnesia refractory mortar

To magnesium sand as raw material, to clay, chemical binding agent (or brine) modulation. It is mainly used for converters, electric furnaces, non-ferrous metal smelting furnace masonry magnesium brick, magnesium aluminum brick, magnesium chrome brick, etc.. The particle size requirements for less than 1mm accounted for 100%, of which the mud used to fill the furnace wall less than 0.5mm is not less than 90%, less than 0.125mm is not less than 50%. Masonry with magnesia refractory mortar less than 0.5mm is not less than 97%, of which less than 0.088mm is not less than 50%.

4、Heat-insulating refractory mortar

Heat-insulating refractory mud is composed of heavy and light refractory raw materials, binding agent and additives, and is a special mud for masonry heat-insulating refractory products. It is divided into two categories: aluminous silicate and siliceous.

5、Special refractory mortar
A. Carbonaceous and carbonaceous refractory mud

Carbonaceous mud and carbonaceous mud is an important material for masonry carbon bricks, carbonaceous non-burning bricks, and also a good grouting material and jointing material for carbonaceous materials or carbonaceous products. The carbon materials used are scaled graphite, earthy graphite, electrode powder and coke powder, etc. The binding agent mainly includes resin, asphalt powder and water glass, etc.

Carbonaceous mud is divided into two categories of carbonaceous high alumina and carbonaceous magnesium, respectively, used for masonry aluminum carbon brick and magnesium carbon brick.

B、Refractory buffer mortar

Compressible refractory raw materials as the main raw material to buffer the thermal expansion stress of the refractory brick masonry body of the special refractory mud. Mainly used in the masonry of blast furnaces, coke ovens, hot air furnaces and other industrial furnaces.

According to the standard YB/T150-1998, the refractory buffer mud is divided into 3 categories and 4 grades according to the physical and chemical indexes.

C. Silicon carbide refractory mortar

This product is mainly used for the masonry of silicon carbide bricks.
