Up to now, magnesia carbon brick is still widely used in iron and steel metallurgy industry. The application of magnesia carbon brick improves the economic indexes of various technologies and reduces the consumption of refractories. In addition, as a non-fired product, magnesium-carbon brick can reduce fuel consumption by at least 80% compared with traditional fired magnesium-dolomite brick.

Application of magnesia carbon brick

Application of magnesia carbon brick in converter steelmaking:

  1. Mouth: Because the temperature of the mouth changes violently, the erosion of slag and high temperature waste gas is more harmful, so the refractory materials used for the mouth must have high thermal shock resistance and slag resistance.
  2. Furnace cap: Furnace cap is the part of the slag erosion is more serious, so it needs to use magnesia carbon brick with strong slag resistance and thermal shock resistance.
  3. Hearth and bottom: these parts are severely scoured by molten steel during blowing, but the damage is generally lighter than other parts. Magnesium-carbon bricks with low carbon content can be selected.
